Peace and Diplomacy for the 21st Century — Understanding Cultures for Reducing Tensions and Solving Conflicts, with Professor Johan Galtung (Norway) and Professor Leif Edvinsson (Sweden) – A debate moderated by Jean-Éric Aubert (France).

Professor Johan Galtung has developed a unique experience of peace -maker in several dozens of countries on the principle of a deep understanding of values, motivations and interests of conflicting parties and of the facilitating of mutual concessions for peace compromises. He has presented his ideas and experiences in numerous books, including a recent publication The Art of Peace (Transcend University Press, 2017).

Professor Leif Edvinsson, after pioneering globally awarded intellectual capital initiatives, notably as Founding President of the New Club of Paris, is now engaged in developing an academy for new diplomacy approaches and societal innovations adapted to 21st century issues. He received the Knowledge Management Award together with UN at Geneva in April 2017.

The Round Table, introduced by brief presentations of the two speakers, will be moderated by Jean-Éric Aubert, former international civil servant, co-founder and Vice President of the Foundation 2100, engaged in long term foresight studies on global challenges. He has recently published Cultures et Systèmes d’Innovation (Presses des Mines, 2017).
